The East Gadsden High School Jaguars gave it all they had last Monday before losing to Godby 5-4 in the District 2-3A Baseball tournament in Tallahassee.
Makarious Murray pitched an outstanding game allowing only four hits in five innings of work. Murray and the Jaguars held a 4-2 lead until the bottom of the fifth when a pair of walks and an error helped Godby to three runs and the lead.
East Gadsden got a first-inning run when Montez Fryson singled in John Price.
The Jaguars took the lead with a three-run fourth inning. Fryson, Cedric Atkins, and Zeldrian Polk all reached base before Murray hit a ball to third where the third baseman made a three base error, giving East Gadsden the lead.
"I thought we played hard and gave it what we had," Jaguar coach Randell Estelle said. "We were just a few runs short of being able to advance."
The loss ended East Gadsden's season with an 11-14 record.
Rickards defeated Godby on Wednesday and won the tournament with a win over Bay High Friday night.
