Home stretch in county girls volleyball

Final practices and preparations are in place this week in anticipation of district volleyball tournaments next week. Munroe and Tallavana are both in the same District2-2A. Munroe is the top seed in the district and Tallavana the bottom seed. The Lion will face FAMU on Tuesday at FAMU in the first round, and the winner will play Munroe for the championship at FAMU on Thursday. 

West Gadsden will enter as the bottom seed in their District 4-1A tournament. It will be hosted by Franklin County. Liberty County is expected to take another championship. East Gadsden will participate in the District 2-4A tournament being held at Godby High School in Tallahassee. 

Results from this past week

MUNROE vs. TALLAVANA CHRISTIAN: The Lady Cats defeated the visiting Lady Lion in three straight to take not only the district match, but the district regular season crown as well. Munroe won 25-17, 25-16, 25-16. Kadejah Glynn led in kills with four. Katie Howell and Olivia Fletcher each added six aces and Ramsey Higdon and Hannah Wilde added four aces each. 

MUNROE vs. NORTH FLORIDA CHRISTIAN: Olivia Fletcher had five digs, two kills and two service points to be selected as Player of the Game in a three-game loss to NFC. NFC won the first two handily by 25-18, 25-16. In game three, Munroe led 25-21 before NFC stormed back and won 27-25. Karleebeth Perkins led offensively with eight kills and Ramsey Higdon added six kills. Glynn and Fletcher combined for 11 digs, defensively. Maddey Pappadakis had 15 assists. 

MUNROE vs. MARIANNA: Marianna avenged an earlier loss to the Lady Cats and took them in three straight. Similar to the NFC match, Marianna won the first two handily but had to rally to win game three. Victoria Anderson led with six kills and new varsity addition Morgan Bot, had five aces. Bot, a freshman, was chosen Player of the Game. She added nine assists as substitute setter for an injured Pappadakis and also had two blocks. Olivia Fletcher added four aces as well.
