Home runs power Red Birds to win

Ben Young blasted a pair of home runs and added a double, helping the Chattahoochee Red Birds to a season-opening 17-10 win over the Liberty County Diamond Dawgs Sunday in Bristol.

It was the first day of the new Big Bend Adult Baseball season.

Young hit a two-run shot in the first inning and added a three-run homer in the fifth. In all he drove in six runs.

Alondrea Gunn also had three hits for Chattahoochee and Clay White was the winning pitcher in relief.

Richie Smith slapped four hits for Liberty County and 'Boo' Morris poked two hits.
