Although it was a two week holiday break, all good coaches know their teams must play some basketball over the holidays to stay in shape. Both Munroe and West Gadsden participated in the Holiday Classic at Rickards before Christmas and faced much larger schools. Munroe played only one game while West Gadsden played two.

Munroe dropped their one game to Chiles 54-19. Kadejah Glynn scored seven points in the loss. West Gadsden lost to Lincoln 37-18. Danielle Parks also scored seven points for the Panthers.

The East Gadsden girl’s team played in the Capital City Classic at TCC at the same time as Munroe and West Gadsden.  The Jaguars went 0-2, losing to PK Yonge by a 68-38 score and then Maclay 76-46.

The Tallavana Christian Lady Lion were first-time participants in the annual Maclay Holiday Hoops Tournament held after New Year’s. The girls team lost all three contests but gained valuable experience. They lost to PCB-Arnold 71-15, Niceville 61-7 and Lincoln 72-21. Tania Lockwood hit five three-pointers in the Lincoln loss for TCS.

West Gadsden also played a non-tournament game Saturday night. The Panthers defeated North Florida Christian 52-15. Sharae Williams scored 15 points, and Devonna Washington added 11 in the win.
