Havana is about to get bigger.

In one vote at the Jan. 30 Havana Town Council meeting, councilmembers voted unanimously to start two annexations – one involuntary and one voluntary.

The motion for voluntary annexation stemmed from a request from a representative of the Havana Community Development Corporation, which owns Havana Northside High.

Wilbur Butler Jr. told council members that if the property occupied by the former school were to become city property, it would be eligible for consideration for more state grants.
