Havana Chief of Police E. Glynn Beach will retire Jan. 3, after six years serving in that capacity
.
The chief’s retirement request was approved at the Nov. 27 town council.
Police Lt. Tracy Smith was also approved by the council to serve as interim chief, effective Jan. 4, until a permanent chief of police is named.
The town manager and council members congratulated Beach for his six years of excellent service to the town.
