The Robert F. Munroe Lady Cats softball team moved to an even 3-3 on the season at the conclusion of last week, winning one and losing one.
On Thursday night Maclay ruled the Lady Cats 12-2. Maclay scored five runs in an error-filled third inning and then pushed six more across in the fifth and sixth innings.
Haleigh Corbally got the loss on the mound. The freshman stuck out four and walked five. Corbally did help her cause from the plate getting two hits and three RBIs. Mary Jane Milam and Spenser Morris each had a hit with an RBI.
On Friday night the team hosted East Gadsden while the two schools’ baseball teams battled on the next field. The Lady Cats had a better result than the Bobcats as they bested East Gadsden 5-1.
Freshman Georgie Brannaman had her first outing on the mound for a varsity team and picked up the win, striking out seven and walking five. Kristen Allen led on offense with two hits, two runs and one RBI. Haleigh Corbally had a double that drove in one run.
Spenser Morris added a hit with an RBI and a run scored.
For East Gadsden, Jazz McNealy had two hits.
The West Gadsden softball team lost a close 7-5 contest with Jefferson County that was called after four innings because of darkness.
Kayla Streeter had a single before the game was ended.
