Eddie Roy "Joe" Gainer, 70, of Quincy, died Dec. 11 in Quincy. He was born October 5, 1938 in Bluffton, Ga. to the late Minnie Jackson and Johnnie Gainer.
He later moved to Quincy and remained there until his death. He attended the public schools of Gadsden County and was a member of Antioch MB Church. He was joined in holy matrimony to Ernestine Campbell on Aug. 26, 1966 in Miami and they were blessed with two children. He was a professional truck driver and owner of the company.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Tabernacle Church of Christ Written In Heaven in Mt. Pleasant, with burial in the Sunnyvale Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Madry Chapel.
He is survived by a loving and devoted family, including the mother of his children, Ernestine Campbell Gainer of Quincy; daughter, Shaila E. Gainer of Quincy; son, Earth Moore and mother, Roseta M. Clifford of Ft. Myers; sisters, Eddie Feron Gainer (Cassandra) of Quincy; nephew, Allen L. Hill (Constance) of Tallahassee; brothers, Willie J. Gainer (Betty) of Quincy and Johnnie Lee Gainer (Clara) of Delray Beach; sisters, Coretha Frison of Miami and Merthel Fields of Charlotte, N.C.; companion, Katrine Thoompkins of Quincy; nephews, Julious C. Lowe of Quincy and Julious C. Lowe of Havana; aunt, Martius Lane of Havana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
