By Angye Morrison

A lightning strike at Havana Elementary School Monday morning resulted in minor damage to the roof, said school Principal Hilda Jackson.

According to Jackson, lightning struck the phone line along the roof over the science lab. Teachers in the area smelled something burning, and once they went outside, they could see smoke coming from the roof.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly, and there was little damage, she said. No one was injured in the incident.

“Everything’s OK,” she said. “It didn’t do too much.”
