EGHS track season underway

East Gadsden High School’s track team joined seven other schools in a meet at Lincoln High School March 3, and the team showed well.

In girls competition, Mildreka Hobley finished second in the 100-meter, with a time of 12:83. Jasmine Allen was second in the 400-meter, with a 1:3 run. Sharyla Chavers had a third-place finish in the 400-meter, with a time 1:4.

Also in girls competition, the 440 relay team of Hobley, Allen, Chavers and NiiAdurey Murray finished second.

In the Lincoln meet, the boys team had a second-place finish by Donterious Gee in the long jump and a second by Frazier Parker in the 100-meter.

Gee, Parker and Kendra McCloud were part of a second place 440 relay team.

The team competed in the Jessie Forbes Meet at Godby on March 7.

Freshman Torriah Bell finished second in the long jump, third in the triple jump and third in the high jump. She was also part of the 440 relay team that finished second.

Other top finishers in the girls competition included Hobley, who was fourth in the 100-meter, Allen who was eighth in the 400-meter and Latonya Chandler, who was fifth in the 300 hurdles.

For the boys, Parker had a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter and Gee took second in the long jump.

Parker, Labradon Jones, Demetric Donald and Johnny Thomas made up the 440 relay team that finished third.

The track team will compete in the FAMU relays this Saturday.
