EGHS qualifies tracksters for regionals

The East Gadsden High School track team saw action in the 2-2A District Meet last Wednesday at Godby.

Torriah Bell led a contingent of girls into the 2-A regional while Frazier Parker was the top competitor on the boys team.

Bell, a freshman transfer from Texas, qualified for the region in four events. She won the district long jump with a 17-5 leap, which is second in the state overall. Bell also qualified with a second in the triple jump. She was on a third place team in the 400-meter relay and a fourth place team in the 1,600-meter relay.

Parker was first in the 100-meter at district. His time of 10.88 is top in the state. Parker also won the 200-meter and was second in the 400-meter.

Other girls to qualify for the regional were Jasmine Allen with a third in the 400-meter and a leg on both the 400- and 12600-meter relay teams; Charyla Chavers on both the 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams; Mildreka Hobley on the 400-meter relay team: and Destiny Atkins on the 1,600-meter relay team.

Other boys to qualify were Christopher Bailey with fourth place finishes in the triple jump and high jump and Dontrioius Gee with a second in the long jump.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Gee, LaBrandon Jones, Johnny Thomas and Demetrics Donald also will make it to regional with a fourth place finish.

The regional will be held at Chiles High School in Tallahassee Friday with competition beginning at 11 a.m.
