In a week of mostly wins, the East Gadsden High School Lady Jaguars proved to be tops.

The Lady Jags survived a furious Bainbridge rally to defeat the Georgia school 62-61. They then upended former coach, Chariya Davis Rickards’ team 76-50. They finished that up with a thumping of Panama City Arnold 70-31.

In the Bainbridge battle, East Gadsden led by a comfortable 16 points with only two minutes to play when Bainbridge mounted a ferocious comeback. A full-court press led to five straight turnovers and a rally.

East Gadsden hung on to win by one.

Against Rickards, a pumped up Jaguar squad jumped out to an insurmountable 21-7 first quarter lead and held on to win 76-50. East Gadsden outscored Rickards in every quarter and held a 44-23 lead at the half.

Against Arnold, the team busted open a 14-6 first quarter lead by outscoring Arnold 29-2 in the second quarter for 43-8 halftime lead.

Jasmine Grice had 25 points and Mildreka Hobley added 12 points.

LADY CATS WIN ONE OF THREE

The Lady Cats picked up an interstate win sandwiched by two disappointing district losses last week. On Tuesday the girls played FAMU tooth and nail until the Rattlerettes finally pulled away in the fourth quarter to win 55-41. Kirstin Allen scored 15 points and Anna Dooner added twelve. The two hit five three pointers combined in the district contest. Freshman Beth Summerford led in rebounding with nine.

Thursday the team enjoyed an easy win over Grace Christian in Bainbridge. All seven Bobcat players scored in the 61-37 win. Kristen Allen led all scorers with a career high 25 points. Carrie Scott added 10 points. Anna Dooner and Beth Summerford controlled the board with 12 rebounds each.

Friday night the girls lost to district foe Aucilla for the second time this season 45-37. Aucilla led 24-17 at the half. Munroe was led in scoring by Anna Dooners ten points.

WEST GADSDEN DESTROYS WEWAHITCHKA

The West Gadsden Lady Panthers destroyed Wewa in a district game 54-7. Wewa did not score until the second half and only then did they produce two baskets in the third quarter and a three pointer in the fourth.

West Gadsden did not find the scoring as hard. Keaundra Wright scored 16 points and pulled down an amazing 22 rebounds. Kayla Streeter also scored 16 rebounds and LaKendra Crittenden added ten points.

Bridae White pulled down 8 rebounds and Streeter gathered 5. Streeter also had six assists and two steals.
