Dodgers game postponed, Red Birds split

The Quincy Dodgers baseball game in the Georgia/Florida/Alabama Baseball League was postponed Sunday due to illness. The Miccouskee team informed the Dodgers about an hour before the game that they would not be coming to Dodger Field.

Quincy still leads the league with a 7-1 record. They will play Isuway this Sunday.

The site of the game was not known at press time.

In other play, things tightened up in the Big Bend Adult Baseball League of Florida Sunday.

League leader Liberty County lost a double-header to the Calhoun County Horseman allowing the Horseman to tie the Diamond Dawgs. Both have 7-3 records.

The Chattahoochee Red Birds split a twin bill in Poet St. Joe with the Gulf County Drive. The Drive spanked the Red Birds 12-3 in the first contest before Chattahoochee came back to knock off Gulf County 15-7 in game two.

Donny Ray Moore pitched a complete game win for the Red Birds and Johnny Yawn, Ben Young, and Chris Pullen had key hits. Justin Rhodes and Austin Horton had home runs for the Drive in game two.

Gulf County's record is 6-4 and Chattahoochee is at 5-6.

In other action Sunday, the Bay Brewers defeated Jackson County 3-2 and 8-5. The Brewers are 4-5 while Jackson County has a 1-9 record.

This Sunday the Red Birds play at Bay County at Cain-Griffin Park in Lynn Haven.

Liberty County is at Jackson County and Calhoun County plays at Gulf County in Wewahitchka.

All games start at 2 p.m. Double-headers will be played at all sites.

An All-Star weekend is planned for June 20 at Chipola with the All-Star game set for 2 p.m.
