The four county volleyball teams — East Gadsden, West Gadsden, Tallavana and Munroe — will soon begin district play. In the meantime, they have a little more than a week to go in the regular season. In this week’s action:

MUNROE vs. GRACE CHRISTIAN: Grace Christian made short work of the match between themselves and Munroe, winning in three straight. Games 1 and 3 were close with the Cougars winning 25-22 and 25-21. The score for game two was 25-17.

Karleebeth Perkins led offensively with eight kills followed by Katie Howell with five. Howell also added four aces and two blocks. Setter Maddey Pappadakis tossed up 13 assists in the loss.

MUNROE vs. FAMU: The Lady Cats rebounded from the loss to Grace with a key district win over visiting FAMU. They team won a close five-game match at FAMU earlier in the season and surprised everyone but themselves with a three-game defeat of the Rattlers.

Munroe won 25-14, 25-15 and 25-23. Having stand out games were Karleebeth Perkins with 10 kills and Olivia Fletcher with five. Katie Howell continued her service ace domination with five. Defensively, Maddey Pappadakis had eight digs and Victoria Anderson finished with six. Pappadakis threw up 18 assists for kills to her hitters.

TALLAVANA vs. FAMU: The TCS Lady Lion upended a talented FAMU team in game one, winning 27-25. FAMU regrouped and rebounded for a crushing 25-2 score in game two and went on to game three (25-13) and game four (25-12). Good showing by Tallavana, nonetheless!
