The sun went down and the holiday magic shone this past Friday night when the Quincy Christmas Parade took to the streets.

Spectators lined up along the parade route to watch the colorful cavalcade roll by. Many children waved at their favorite characters — Santas, elves, and other colorful characters — including Sponge Bob Square Pants. And anyone tossing candy also became instantly popular. A number of businesses, churches, schools, bands, cheerleading squads and other groups participated in the festive event hosted by Quincy Parks and Recreation Department. Afterward, children lined up to sit on Santa’s lap and share their Christmas wishes.
