Black History celebration set for this weekend

The annual Black History Parade and Festival will be held Feb. 27.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. with line-up at 10 a.m. at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and South Stewart Street. The parade proceeds north on Stewart Street to Crawford Street and east on Crawford Street to South Adams Street where it disbands.

Organizer Anthony Powell said no grand marshal has been named but Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young and his wife, Kathy, will lead the parade. He said  all of the citizens of the county are considered grand marshals.
