Betty Sue Herndon Gumanis, 79, of Chattahoochee, Florida, died on April 10, 2012, in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born April 9, 1933, in Harbison City, Florida. She was employed as a secretary at Chattahoochee Elementary School for many years before retirement. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Chattahoochee and the Chattahoochee Woman's Club.
Mrs. Gumanis is survived by her daughters, Calliope Gumanis Pickens and Johanna Gumanis Tardif of Tallahassee, Florida; sisters, Ruby Bogert of Chattahoochee, Annette Batchelor of Iron City, Georgia, and Mary Atkinson and husband, Stewart of Tallahassee, Florida; brother, Fletcher James Herndon Jr. (Sonny) and wife, Peggy of Destin, Florida; grandchildren, Hampton Gumanis Tardif, Lanna Claire Tardif, Carys Calliope Tardif, and Abigail Patricia Pickens, all of Tallahassee, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Gumanis; parents, Fletcher and Louise Herndon.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. EDT at the First United Methodist Church in Chattahoochee, Florida, with burial following at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chattahoochee. The family will receive visitors at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home, Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. EDT in Sneads, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 18 West Marion Street, Chattahoochee, Florida, 32324.
