Prior to playing 1A Wewahitchka, the Munroe Bobcats were winless against competition ranging from 3A to 7A.  With their first spring break game scheduled against John Paul II cancelled due to weather, the Bobcats travelled to Wewahitchka on Tuesday of  last week. This day the team and coaching staff  left with a 19-13 win and a smile.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard first when leadoff hitter, senior Bryson Blake, led off with a homerun shot.  The Gators responded with four runs in the bottom of the first and both teams pushed across three runs in the third inning. Munroe scored six runs over the next four innings and led 10-7 entering the seventh inning.  The scoring onslaught continued with nine runs in the top of the seventh and led 19-7 when Wewa got their final at bat.  The Gators managed to score six runs before the Munroe pitching staff was able to slam the door shut.
Bryson Blake was three forthree with five rbi’s, including the leadoff home run to start the game.  The righthander also got the win from the mound.
Matt Salters stole three bases and scored three runs.  Dashiell Bassett added two hits.  Coach Jeremy Barlow was impressed with his team’s ability to regain the lead and hold on for the win.  “We played hard and maintained our focus for all seven innings,” said Barlow.
This week the team will play Tallavana Christian twice and then finish the week with East Gadsden on Friday.
